The new University Crossing Student Center is composed of both new construction and renovation work. Located at the old St. Joseph’s Hospital site in Lowell, work entailed demolition of 70% of the existing site structures, renovation to remaining structures, and a major new building addition to provide 242,000 GSF total. The program includes comprehensive student services and activity spaces, a bookstore, dining areas, campus police, the chancellor’s suite, and a conference hall. The construction cost was $71 million and the project achieved LEED “Silver” Certification.
